Pilot South East Ireland

Motivation

As the statutory energy agency for the Southeast of Ireland, South East Energy Agency (SEEA), our motivation is to boost EE by 1.9% annually under EED and EPBD recasts, and Irish Climate Action Plan by overcoming financial, technical, and regulatory challenges, adopting advanced technologies, and implementing sustainable practices. Through the Energy Transition Navigator (ETN) and Transnational cooperation on Irish pilot.

Focus/core

SEEA will implement the ETN on five MSEs in food and accommodation sector in phase one and expand to 10 MSEs in phase two in the supply chain related with food and accommodation sector in Ireland. Activities continue with validating business models, monitoring KPIs, process refinements, and identifying replicable solutions. The project will also enhance MSE staff skills through training and upskilling professionals in energy efficiency practices.

Approach

SEEA will leverage its experiences on national projects to ECOBoost project by using the following approaches:

  • Perform energy audit (analysing the current building performance and appliances).
  • Advise on energy efficiency and carbon emission reduction.
  • Advise on business model to implement energy efficiency improvements.
  • Train and capacity building of MSE staff on the energy efficiency and carbon emission reduction.

Expected impact

By combining tailored training, technical tools, and strategic support, SEEA will contribute to a more energy-efficient, low-carbon future. Expected impact includes:

  • Increased energy efficiency and reduced emissions in participating MSEs
  • Upskilled MSE staff equipped to lead energy transition efforts
  • Wider adoption of the Energy Transition Navigator tool in Ireland
  • Strengthened local capacity for implementing sustainable energy strategies
